Syllabus Overview:
Marketing is essential to the operations of any business firm or public service organization. The successful enterprise in today’s changing and competitive world is increasingly characterized by its understanding of the many facets of marketing and by its ability to deliver goods and services to the market more efficiently than its competitors. This course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts, practices, and techniques of marketing.

  • MODULE I—INITIATING THE MARKETING PROCESS
  • MODULE II—UNDERSTANDING BUYERS AND MARKETS/ TARGETING MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES
  • MODULE III—SATISFYING MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES
  • MODULE IV MARKETING AND PRICING
  • MODULE I-DEVELOPMENTS IN MARKETING
  • MODULE II-MARKETING IN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
  • MODULE III-MARKETING APPROACH IN A COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT
Objectives:
  • Provides an understanding of the marketing management framework of a business organization
  • Offers experiential analysis to understand the challenges of Marketing Managers
  • Focuses on marketing management best practices, tools and models to implement an effective marketing and sales management system
  • Emphasizes planning and executing strategic marketing programmes
  • Provides insights on how to develop marketing strategies, initiatives and programs to build and sustain a competitive market advantage
  • Provides a practical framework for planning and controlling of marketing communication programs.

Entry Requirements:

  • Persons registering for this course should be 17 years or older.
  • At least 1 year working experience, and 3 CXC

 

Course Duration:
  • 60 Contact hours, 48 lecture hours and 15 hours for assignment for 4 credits.

Exam: for course starting on April 13, 2011 an exam is set for September 28, 2011.
